High School students compete in 2023 Beach Bot Battle Robotics at Gulfport High

Robots of all shapes and sizes have descended upon Gulfport High as the much-anticipated Beach Bot Battle Robotics Competition kicks off.

High school students from across the south gathered to show off their engineering and creativity in the 2023 robotics competition.

The aspiring engineers have spent countless hours planning, building, and programming their robots. The competition is organized into several rounds in which teams are tested on their robots’ ability to complete complex tasks.

The Beach Bot Battle promotes teamwork while preparing them for the future. Coast Division Manager Mark Loughman said, “The students who are engaged on these robotics team they learn all kinds of problem-solving skills mechanical, aptitude, math, science, technology skills that are really applicable to what they’re going to be doing after school.”

The Beach Bot Battle is free and open to the public and will continue through tomorrow.
