High School Football reclassification

For the next two years, the high school football landscape on the Gulf Coast will look a little different as it does every two years.

New regions announced for the most recent MHSAA reclassification and there’s quite a few local schools on the move.

Starting with St. Stanislaus moving down from region 8 Class 4A to 83A where the Rock-A-Chaws will join St. Patrick, who is moving up from region 8 class 2A.

That’s a huge move for SSC who’s been in the 4A ranks since 1989.

Taking its place is Stone, moving over from region 7 and then Greene County jumping into replace Vancleave also from region 7.

Bay High, Moss Point, and Pass Christian all remain steady.

Vancleave is getting the call up to region 4 class 5A where there’s a lot of moving parts. George County is also dropping down from region 3 class 6A and West Harrison down from 46A.

Hattiesburg and Wayne County are joining more local competition in region 3.

Pascagoula is taking West Harrison’s place in region 4 class 6A to round things out.

Other schools staying put in their respective regions, Poplarville in region 7 class 4A and Resurrection Catholic in region 4 class 1A.

Overall, seven Coast teams are moving.
