High School Baseball: Vancleave vs. Gulfport
Just two nights ago, Gulfport and Vancleave took the diamond together and played their third one run game in the last two years. Tonight, those same two teams met up again, this time at MGM Park.
Game one of the Coca-Cola Classic Series.
Gulfport wins by one run again by the final count of 3-2.
Win or lose, here’s both head coaches before the game on what it means to give their players the chance to play where the pro’s do it. Vancleave Baseball Head Coach Daniel Best said, “It’s a great opportunity, I’m excited for the guys and I know they’re real excited about getting the opportunity to play here. I think as a player these days all of our guys strive to play at the next level, so this is a great opportunity for them to come out here and kind of see what that’s like, the atmosphere.”
Gulfport Head Baseball Coach Jamie McMahon said, “The kids get to play on the Major League stadium and I know this is a newer stadium, but there’s some Big Leaguers that have played here. And I think just that side of it, it makes it fun and exciting to know you’re playing where some of the best of the best have played.”
The next game at MGM Park takes place tomorrow between Biloxi and D’Iberville in the battle of the back bay.
