Hickory Hill Country Club and Resort in Gautier back open

The golf course at Hickory Hill in Gautier was in full swing this morning as the 5A District Tournament was underway.

A busy morning for Hickory Hill, but not uncommon, business has been steady since they reopened this past fall under new management.

The course was also known as the Mississippi National Golf Club in its 55 years, but after closing in 2020, the new owners renovated the facility and are open to the public offering special rates to first responders and teachers. Troy Guillotte with Hickory Hill Country Club said, “The golf course deserved a better ending than what it got and we also felt like it had a lot of golf left to give. So, we’re very excited about reopening. We’re very excited to offer a familiar course back to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”

Youth Golf Instructor Jantzen Hilbun said, “It’s very challenging little course. It’ll get you if you don’t hit it in the right place. So, it’s a lot of fun. I’m glad that it reopened.”

Their new restaurant ‘the River Oak’ just opened last month and they’re currently serving lunch.

Now that the restaurant is finished, the owners are focusing on adding more to the resort like a swimming pool and marina down by the river.
