Heavy rainfall and heavy traffic expected this weekend
Big crowds and heavy traffic are expected this weekend and so is the potential for some high winds and heavy rainfall making the situation on the roads even worse.
Although we still don’t know the exact timing of the expected South Mississippi showers, county officials want to make sure everyone knows what to do, to stay safe on the roads during times of heavy rainfall and traffic.
Gulfport and Biloxi police departments have been working together to make sure traffic runs as smooth as possible during this weekend’s planned events.
Harrison County Emergency Management Agency Director Rupert Lacy says there’s a possibility of up to four inches of rain so stay indoors if you can. “The key thing there is slow down, be patient. If it’s raining, cut your headlights on if you have to get out and travel, but there’s an extra flow of traffic. We’ll have a lot of guests down here so those people will also be looking for some place to go to get out the weather so we’re talking about where these people are going to go and trying to make plans now in case it really gets bad on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”
