Healthy Teens for a Better Mississippi rally

Building a better future for the next generation of state leaders is what the Families First for Mississippi organization is all about. Today, teenagers across the state gathered for an event that would inspire them to make positive choices.
Over one thousand students registered for the Healthy Teens for a Better Mississippi rally in Biloxi. Mississippi native and former NFL running back Marcus Dupree spoke to kids about bullying, texting and driving, and making positive life choices. “I was at their age before and made a few choices that weren’t good for me. I just want to help kids live their lives and make right choices,” said Dupree.
There’s something about public figures that makes kids want to listen when they speak. So when former WWE superstar Ted DiBiase Jr. had the opportunity to speak at this event he was more than willing to inspire. “Having the opportunity to come back and invest in the minds and the lives of the youth and hopefully say something to motivate and inspire them to want more and expect more in their life.”
Teenagers like Kiera Morris and Kendyl Terrell says teens from all over can learn from this rally. “There’s information that they might tell us here that they won’t tell us in school or other places, information that can help us and put us ahead of the game,” said Morris.
Terrell said, “We all need each other. We are all put on this earth so we can be successful together. We want to come together as a community and better ourselves instead of bring each other down.”
DiBiase Jr. wants all teens who are victims of bullying to know just how special they are. “You matter. You’re important. Your gifts, talents, and dreams are important and they were given to you for a reason.”
Families First for Mississippi has put on events like this for twenty years to engage teens in making healthy choices.
