Healthy school grant presentation at Pass Christian Elementa

Pass Christian Elementary School learned it pays to be healthy, receiving a $25,000 healthy school grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi.
Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Healthy School Awards recognize and reward public schools with health policies and programs that promote healthy eating, physical activity, and overall wellness among students, staff, parents, and the community, ultimately making our state a healthier place to live.
Pass Christian Elementary School Principal Kenitra Ezi says the money will go towards purchasing equipment to foster fit and healthy lifestyles among staff and students. “We plan to buy a lot more equipment and resources for our P.E. program, a lot of dumbbells or free weights and different things like that, some resistance bands. We’re looking forward to having some pedometers for students and some water bottles. We really want to encourage students to consume more water. For the staff, we plan on having some treadmills, hopefully a spin bike, and an elliptical.”
The school celebrated the achievement with healthy fruit smoothies and a pep rally in the gym.
