Healthy Cooking Super Saturday Set for Nov. 15th

The Pascagoula School District’s Healthy Cooking Super Saturday will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15th, 2014, at the Aaron Jones Family Interactive Center.

The day’s events will feature tasting simple, fun recipes parents and children can do at home along with a cookbook filled with healthy recipes to try. Free fruit will also be given out as well as popcorn and bottled water. Activities will focus on making healthy food choices.
At 10:30 a.m., Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation will make a special presentation on the Family Interactive Center stage to Pascagoula Mayor Jim Blevins for the City of Pascagoula’s winning entry of the Healthy Hometown grant.

Excel by 5 will also sponsor a children’s health fair during Super Saturday. Booths will include the Chevron Fire Department, Wal-Mart Vision Center, South Mississippi Smiles, Singing River Health System’s Women’s and Children’s Department, Encore Rehabilitation Services, and Gulf Coast Health Educators.

Super Saturdays are open free to the public. The center is located at 1415 Skip St., Pascagoula, across from Pascagoula High School.
