Health care related bills become law in Mississippi

More funding could be coming to Mississippi hospitals and health care workers soon as three new health care related bills are set to become law.

Governor Tate Reeves recently signed House Bill 271 and Senate Bills 2371 and 2372. House Bill 271 provides $103 million in funding to the new Mississippi Hospital Sustainability Grant program and Senate Bill 2327 sets guidelines as to how that funding is distributed to hospitals across the state.

Meanwhile, Senate Bill 2371 allows for the creation of new workforce training and retention efforts for health care workers.

Those efforts include the Accelerate Mississippi Nursing Grant program as well as the Accelerate Mississippi Physician Residency Grant program.
