Hazmat Spill Backs Up Traffic For Hours
A traffic nightmare in Jackson County this morning as I-10 westbound was backed up for hours after a hazmat spill in Vancleave.
Around 6:15 this morning, an 18-wheeler dumped over 200 gallons of diesel onto the interstate near exit 57.
The tank leaked oil after being cut by a metal object.
As M-DOT crews were pouring sand, working to clean up the mess, traffic was down to one lane for nearly three hours.
And after a headache of a morning commute, traffic is once again running smoothly.
