Hattiesburg Zoo welcomes a new giraffe
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WXXV)- The Hattiesburg Zoo is welcoming a new resident this month.
Rahisi the Giraffe moved in from the Memphis Zoo on October 7th.
At nearly 11 months old, Rahisi is ten feet tall. He is joining the two female giraffes. He was selected as a potential future breeding male for the zoo.
The zoo says don’t expect any calves soon. Rahisi will likely be around five years old before breeding is considered.
In the meantime, he is settling into his new home and getting acquainted with the other members of his enclosure.
