Harrison County to receive $3 million for Sea Rail Truck Project
The state of Mississippi was recently awarded over $23 million in federal funding for transportation projects as a result of the recent passage of Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Bill for 2024.
As a result of the bill’s passage, Harrison County is set to receive $3 million which will go towards the construction of the Sea Rail Truck Site.
Construction is set to begin on the 34-acre property as soon as the county receives the funding.
Harrison County Development Commission Executive Director Bill Lavers hopes to have the project done by the end of this year. “So, this is Sea Rail Truck, SRT is the project name. It’s to allow intermodal transport between all those modes of transportation and it’s an open access point for anybody in the region that wants to move goods in or out of the region.”
Harrison County currently has other projects in development that must be completed before construction on the truck site begins.
Once the project is complete, development commission leaders say any customers are welcome to move their goods in or out of the site.
