Harrison County to give away trees for Arbor Day
Harrison County Soil & Water Conservation District will distribute trees and bushes to county residents in honor of Arbor Day.
The tree distribution will be 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Lyman Community Center, located at 13472 Highway 49 in Gulfport.
The event is drive-through only.
Organizers ask that you enter view Touriel Road, which is beside Tractor Supply and exit via Highway 49.
The trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each household will be charged $5.
The bundles distributed will include either a Live oak, red maple or American holly tree, two blueberry bushes, a Southern magnolia and bareroot seedlings of pin oak, water oak or sycamore.
Residents are limited to one bundle per vehicle or household while supplies last.
Beth D’Aquilla with the soil & water district said if they can accommodate requests on the choice of Live oak, red maple or American holly, they will do so.
Organizers also will load the trees into your vehicle.
