Harrison County Supervisor Connie Rockco Makes History

A local woman is making history for females and the entire state of Mississippi.
Harrison County Supervisor Connie Rockco will be sworn into office by the Mississippi Association of Supervisors tomorrow, becoming not only the first female MAS president to represent Mississippi, but also the first supervisor from Harrison County to be president since the 1940s.
Rockco was at a gala tonight at the White House Hotel in Biloxi when News 25 caught up with her. She says she’s excited to show her leadership and it’s an honor that, in her words, speaks volumes for the state of Mississippi. “It’s all about passion. Whether you’re male or female, the passion has to be there to be who you want to be. Anybody, whether you’re black, white, male or female, Republican or Democrat, you can be whatever you want in this country, America. I believe that with all my heart,” said Rockco.
Rockco will be sworn in by the state board tomorrow at a special lunch at noon. She tells News 25 her plan is to “carry Mississippi forward.”
