Harrison County Soil and Water holding annual tree distribution
The Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District announced its back for its annual Arbor Day Tree Distribution.
This event, held at the Lyman Community Center in Gulfport, will allow community members to drive through and collect a bundle of trees and plants for just a $5 donation.
The plants in the bundle include live oak trees, magnolia trees, blueberry bushes, and bare root hardwoods.
There will be a limit to one plant bundle per vehicle or household.
The event begins at 7 a.m. on Friday, February 10th and continues until all the plants are sold out. Commissioner Patrick Chubb said, “This is one way where we can reach out, do that public outreach, teach people, get them out in the yards, maybe get them involved with their families. They can teach their kids about the conservation of trees and developing habitats in their own yard.”
The team with the soil and water conservation district partnered with Master Gardens, USDA, MSU, and Harrison County Beautification Commissions to make the event happen.
