Harrison County Sheriff’s Office warns public of scams using their number

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office wants to make the public aware of ongoing scams using the office’s phone number.

The scam claims to be a deputy collecting fines to avoid arrest. The caller is requesting money through bitcoin or other electronic platforms.

Some citizens were sent a falsified arrest warrants with their names attached that appears to be signed by a representative from the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Matt Haley wants to remind the public that the sheriff’s office will never request money over the phone or email.
