Harrison County Sheriff’s Office investigates alleged school threat

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Additional security measures were in place at one Harrison County school Monday after social media threats circulated over the weekend.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says those threats have been deemed noncredible, but not before taking extra steps to keep students safe.

Students at Creekbend Elementary returned to class Monday morning with an increased law enforcement presence on campus.

Over the weekend, a photograph referencing ‘Creekbend’ began circulating on social media, prompting concern among parents and school officials.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says it immediately launched an investigation, initially treating the threat as credible until proven otherwise.

Deputies worked alongside the Harrison County School District to determine the origin of the post and assess any potential risk.

Investigators now say the threat appears to have originated outside of their jurisdiction, possibly referencing a different Creekbend area altogether.

As a precaution, additional deputies were stationed at the school throughout the day.

Officials emphasize that student safety remains their top priority and thank parents for their patience during the investigation.

In the meantime, law enforcement will continue to work closely with school leaders to ensure a safe learning environment.
