Harrison County Sheriff’s Department honors fallen deputy

On this National Police Week, law enforcement agencies across the Coast are paying tribute to fallen officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Earlier today, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office paying tribute to Deputy Earl Phillips. Deputy Phillips was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Landon Road in 1973.

He’s buried next to his wife at the Floral Hills Memorial Garden.

This ceremony is an annual tradition for the sheriff’s office to honor the memory of Deputy Phillips.
