Harrison County sheriff warns of phone scam

Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson warns citizens there is a telephone scam going on citizens should beware of.

Peterson said scammers are calling residents in the area, using names of employees of his office, saying the resident needs to pay fines or have a warrant issued for their arrest.

The Sheriff’s Office does not collect fines or court fees.

Anyone with information about the scam is asked to call Criminal Investigations at 228-896-0678.
