Harrison County Sheriff holds open forum at Lyman Senior Center

Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley made a stop at the Lyman Senior Center to talk to locals.

Sheriff Haley discussed the transition and the first few months as acting sheriff and the implementation of protecting the local schools from harm.

The sheriff also shared the need to raise pay for deputies and county law enforcement and specifications to training officers to get them locally trained.

Senior citizens of the Lyman community were also able to share suggestions and ask questions about concerns in their community. Sheriff Haley said, “It’s a time for me to come back and kind of let them know what my vision is and where I’m at today and what we’re going to do moving forward. Our seniors are very important to the sheriff’s office, you know, they’re basically where we came from, you know. To be able to come back and spend some time with them. They appreciate it and I appreciate their time.”

The sheriff’s department says it plans to visit more senior community centers in the near future for more open dialogue with senior citizens.
