Harrison County searching for suspect who fled from deputies

Harrison County deputies are searching for a suspect who fled when deputies tried to stop the black Dodge truck he was driving.

The pursuit and search began Monday when deputies tried to stop the truck at the Chevron on County Farm Road. Paper plates on the truck returned as belonging on a different vehicle, Sheriff Troy Peterson said.

The truck took off and deputies pursued, but it ended on Landon Road near Dauro Road when the suspect, a black man with long dreads, fled on foot south through a wooded area.

Deputies searched through the evening and units are still in the area searching for the unidentified suspect.
