Harrison County School District welcomes 130 new teachers
Over 130 new teachers will be entering the Harrison County School District this year.
Some have taught at other districts while others are finally beginning their teaching career.
With so many new faces, Harrison County School District hosting a training session for teachers to learn about the district, the programs they use, and have any questions answered before the start of the school year.
With a critical teacher shortage in the state, newcomers feel like training like this shows support.
“Getting a general basis of how your district as a whole works or even your specific school as a whole works is a great foundation to be able to build upon that,” said first-year teacher Brennan Prince, who will be an ATSI Interventionist. “Having a day like this where you get that information before you go into your classroom… because we have students coming next week. So, rather than throwing us in next week with our students as soon as they come back, we get to know ‘Here are the basics of the district. Now go apply them to your classroom.'”
Harrison County School District heads back to school on August 1st.
