Harrison County School District hosts Festival of Trees

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- It was a festive night at the Lyman Community Center as the Harrison County School District’s Journey Program hosted its Festival of Trees.

The room was filled with Christmas trees, each decorated by gifted students from all the elementary and middle schools in the district.

The theme of each school’s tree showcased what the students are studying in class from Vincent Van Gogh to different careers and more. Michelle Barrow with Harrison County School District said, “It is so important for the community to come to celebrate our gifted students, our gifted students are some of the top performing students in the school district, and we are just here to celebrate their creativity, their love of learning, and to celebrate their teachers, hard work and dedication to the gifted students.”

The event included a scavenger hunt, food trucks, and a vote for the best tree. Santa made an appearance as well!
