Harrison County School District holds ribbon cutting ceremony for new school building

The Harrison County School District celebrated the new Creekbend Elementary and Middle School with a ribbon cutting ceremony today.

Other than the building being brand new, the new school will feature more bathroom space, more storage, workrooms that are easier to access for teachers and updated technology.

The new school also has the latest safety system that features a live alarm system, which will monitor for emergencies to keep everyone safe.

Superintendent Mitchell King says he’s proud of the architect and construction team because the building is not only for the kids that will be starting school soon, but for generations to come. “This is what makes education work. the facility. You know use to school was about you just come in and sit down and listen to what the teacher has to say. This day and time we have to be able to compete with all the other things out there in order to get students to learn in school and when you got a new facility like this it draws students in.”

August 4th is the first day at Creekbend Elementary and Middle School.
