Harrison County School District dispels rumors of threat at West Harrison Middle School

An off-campus dispute between two West Harrison Middle School students sparked rumors of a threat at the school Thursday morning.

A parent called WXXV, saying he and received a phone message that the school had received a phone threat but that parents should not be concerned and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office had deputies at the scene.

WXXV reached out to Harrison County School District spokesperson Trang Pham-Bui, who sent a statement from the district clarifying the situation.

“A situation between two students had occurred off campus. Rumors were started on social media about a threat at West Harrison Middle School today; however, there was no threat to the school or at the school.

“The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department was notified and officers were present at the school per safety and security policy and protocols. Everyone at the school is safe.”
