Harrison County School District bond passed

The $55 million bond for the Harrison County School District passed during Tuesday’s election, but what does this mean moving forward?

News 25 spoke with Harrison County Superintendent Roy Gill who says they are all systems go right now, but it is a lengthy process. Once the circuit clerk certifies the vote then they will have a resolution on the board to accept the vote.

On Wednesday they met with their architect and bond attorney to make sure everything is set. They have already started ramping up security at some of the schools with the money the district put forth on this project.

Harrison County School District Superintendent Roy Gill said, “As far as breaking ground, you know, when I was speaking to them I said ‘I wish we could have done it yesterday, but we didn’t want the cart before the horse because it is a process of issuing the bonds and getting those out and making sure that everything is done in the appropriate manner.”

The school district hopes to have these new schools up and running and all of the projects finished by August 2020.
