Harrison County Public Libraries giving out free eclipse glasses ahead of April 8th Solar Eclipse
The Pass Christian Public Library is giving out free solar eclipse glasses ahead of Monday's eclipse.
“We look forward to our solar eclipse in Pass Christian.”
Melanie Walrod a youth services librarian is one of many south Mississippi residents who are waiting to see this shot of the sun and moon face off midday on Monday April 8th. She and library team members not only will watch the eclipse but are handing out these cool shades for you to view it too.
“At Pass Christian Library we’ll be giving out about 700 to the public.”
These special eclipse glasses are free while supplies last as part of a joint venture between the Harrison County Library and the Starnet organization and other groups. In total there are almost 2500 glasses available at multiple libraries in the county.
“We’re going to start giving them out this Wednesday starting when we open and while supplies…and each adult can have one pair and families and have two.”
While the library isn’t planning anything for the day of the eclipse, they invite anyone to come by and enjoy the celestial event.
“It’s more fun with more people watch it and the excitement is contagious.”
You can secure your pair of eclipse glasses at the following public libraries: Pass Christian, Orange Grove, Gulfport, and Margaret Sherry.
