Harrison County nine-year-old girl in critical condition after being shot by a cross bow
On December 27th, 2017 an incident reference a shooting involving a cross bow occurred at Robinson Road in Gulfport.
According to Sheriff Troy Peterson, Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Robinson Road in Gulfport, Mississippi on a report of a medical emergency. Upon arrival, deputies discovered nine-year-old Ashley Patton had a blunt injury to the back of her head and was incoherent, in and out of consciousness. Patton was transported to Garden Park Medical Center by AMR and stabilized, further transported to USA Medical Center in Mobile, Alabama listed in critical condition.
Upon further investigation, investigators determined through interviews that Patton was shot with an arrow in the back of her head by a 16-year-old male juvenile family member while at the residence.
Sheriff Troy Peterson stated the 16-year-old male juvenile suspect was released to his guardian pending a grand jury review of the incident.
The Harrison County District Attorney’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
