Harrison County native Bobby Hudson receives major youth leadership award
A Harrison County native was recognized by the state for his leadership earlier this week.
Secretary of State Michael Watson gives out the John Lewis Youth Leadership Award once a year to recognize a gifted, civic-minded young individual.
For the first time, the award was given to two individuals and one recipient was Gulfport’s very own Bobby Hudson.
Hudson gives his all to contribute to his community in various ways.
One of the many things he’s dedicated to is his advocacy work centered around political engagement and voter education.
Hudson says that receiving his award inspires him to continue making a difference in the state of Mississippi. “It really just encourages me and it inspires me to encourage other youth to go after their passions, to pursue their passions despite their age no matter how young or old someone might be, you can really make those effective changes that you want to see in your community, just like John Lewis did.”
After completing his degree in public policy leadership from the University of Mississippi, Hudson plans on staying in the Magnolia State in some type of municipal or governmental capacity.
