Harrison County Mosquito Control keeping the bugs at bay

It’s getting to be that time of the year again, time to prepare for another war with mosquitos.

The Harrison County Mosquito Control battles the bugs year-round by treating ditches with larvicide, but with warmer weather they are becoming more of a pest.

When comparing the numbers of mosquitos caught from this year to last year, they’re seeing similar amounts, meaning they’ll most likely start fogging in two weeks. Harrison County Mosquito Control Director Gene Fayard said, “They’re about the same to where they were last year at this time. Three to seven in a trap last year. Around April 15th, we were getting 50 plus in a trap. It changes dramatically when the warmer weather starts gearing up.”

Mosquito Control asks that when you see a fogging truck come down your street you step inside for a couple of minutes until they pass.

If you also experience an abnormal amount of mosquitos on your property give them a call at 228-896-0409 so they can come fog and look for the source of the problem.
