Harrison County Man Sentenced for Armed Robbery
A Gulfport man was sentenced this week to 20 years in prison for a 2014 armed robbery of a bank in Long Beach.
Thirty-year-old Austin Hubbard pled guilty to robbing the Hancock Bank on Beatline Road. The prosecution says that Hubbard and a co-defendant were masked and armed when they walked into the bank, brandished weapons and forced the teller to give them over $3,000. After fleeing, two Long Beach city employees followed the defendant’s vehicle and called 9-1-1.
Officials say Hubbard leaned out of the vehicle and fired his weapon at the city employees. Long Beach police quickly joined the pursuit and the chase ended in Gulfport.
