Harrison County issued state of emergency in preparation for winter weather

Harrison County EMA held a meeting this morning to prepare for the winter weather.

The Harrison County Board of Supervisors enacted a local state of emergency in preparation for potential hazardous winter weather.

Due to possible unsafe road conditions, the Harrison County Board of Supervisors delayed report-to-work time for non-essential county employees until 10 a.m. tomorrow.  Harrison County Emergency Management Director Matt Stratton said, “If activities do require you to go somewhere definitely want to slow your speeds down, that can make a big difference in the handling of the car if you do encounter any black ice. You want to allow extra distance following behind people, extra distance for stopping, and the main thing with the travels is allowing extra time to travel.”

If you do not need to travel in the earlier part of the morning please stay inside.
