Harrison County Friends of the Court Training Session

The Harrison County Advocacy Center is looking for new volunteers for their Friends of the Court program.

Jeannie Herrin and Charlotte Todaro are in studio to discuss volunteer training times.

The Friends of Court are a team of trained volunteers who help caregivers pursue legal guardianship of their wards. Caregivers can be a grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, or non-blood related kin who have taken over the care of either a child or vulnerable adult. These caregivers need legal guardianship to allow for critical decision-making regarding health care and education. Often, caregivers have limited resources to navigate the legal system to gain guardianship.

Volunteer training takes place February 17th, 18th, and 19th from 5:30 to 9:40 p.m. You must attend all three nights for completion.

For more information call Jeannie Herrin at 228-241-1837.
