Harrison County Fair Begins Wednesday

The stage is almost set. The 2016 Harrison County Fair will kick off tomorrow.
Crews were out bright and early this morning setting up the actual stage for the fair. Country singers and pageant queens will all grace the stage in just a few short days. The arena is also being prepped for the rodeo set to begin on Friday. What is a fair without the food? Vendors have also started to arrive to set up shop.
As the first fair the county has seen since the 1930s begins to gear up, Harrison County Fairgrounds Director Greg Whitfield is excited to once again provide affordable entertainment for the Coast. “It’s hard to find events that are of this caliber that are affordable to go to. Normally you go to a family event with two or three kids you’re spending hundreds of dollars. This is a free event. It’s free entry for everybody. Of course, you have armbands and great carnival rides and the rodeo. We have a lot of events and something for everybody. We invite everybody to come on out.”
The fair is still looking for volunteers. For more information on volunteering and a list of what’s happening over the next five days, check out the Harrison County Fair’s Facebook page.
