Harrison County EMA holds briefing on Ida
Harrison County Emergency Management Agency held a briefing this afternoon on Hurricane Ida.
About 70 officials gathered at the meeting to discuss plans and preparations for the storm. Topics discussed at the briefing include dock evacuation times, school closures, and hurricane shelters available in the county.
Boats must be evacuated by 3 p.m. tomorrow for Biloxi docks and 2 p.m. for Gulfport and Pass Christian docks. EMA Director Matt Stratton said, “It’s not going to look to bad out there yet. You wouldn’t know there’s a monster on the horizon. All indications is that Ida is a strong category three. There is some speculation of possibly stronger. “
The hurricane shelters in the district will be located at D’Iberville High, County Farm Road, West Harrison High, Harrison Central High, Lobouy Road, and Saucier Lizana Road.
