Harrison County Democrats React to Trump’s Election as President-Elect

On the Democratic side, there was disappointment when it was realized the presidency would go to Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Throughout the campaign, Trump has made remarks that caused some Americans to question what he would be like as president.
Raeshawn Davis, vice chair of the State of Mississippi Democratic Party, tells News 25 a fear of the unknown is the reaction she, along with other Democrats on the Coast, now feels. “I was very disappointed. I woke up this morning almost like is it a dream? Did this really happen? There were a lot of questions and a lot of things that were said during the campaign that were not very positive and very hurtful to people which gave them the reason to be entitled to their opinions. So, now we just have to give him the opportunity to lead and serve the country as he’s supposed to.”
Davis tells News 25 it is important for Democrats to come together and prepare for the next election and to always get out and vote.
