Harrison County Board of Supervisors: No curfew for now; groups of more than 10 not allowed on beach
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — The Harrison County Board of Supervisors rejected enacting a curfew despite the recommendation to implement one by Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson and police chiefs in Harrison County.
However, they warned that could change in the near future if the spread of COVID-19 continues.
Other measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus were also discussed.
The supervisors decided that groups of more than 10 will no longer be allowed at public beaches in Harrison County. Groups of ten or less will still be permitted.
The supervisors highlighted that regular exercise and spending time outdoors is important for Coast residents, especially for those that must remain home.
Only mayors, supervisors, and essential personnel were allowed into the meeting. Media was not allowed inside.
The Harrison County Board of Supervisors provided a live stream of the meeting via Facebook, but there were intermittent issues with the audio.
