Harrison County Board President Addresses County Residents

It’s been a busy 90 days, but she’s been getting things done. That was Harrison County Board of Supervisor President Beverly Martin’s message to residents today at the Kroc Center. Martin was the keynote speaker of Morning Call put on by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce. From the paving of roads to new projects on the way, the point of the event was to let county residents know the board is working for them.

For Martin, who was voted in as a supervisor then as president of the board shortly afterward, she’s most recently proud of having the Sand Beach Authority help with cleanup after Biloxi Black Beach Weekend. “That was pretty overwhelming, but I think I’m doing okay with it. I really like it. I’ve been around politics my whole life. So to now be in a position I can do something to make a difference. For instance, the beach cleanup that Chuck Loftis referred to, working these holidays or events like Black Spring Break we had come in, working that before, during and after those events is important to tourism. Keep those beaches clean.”

Martin and fellow supervisors Connie Rockco and Angel Kibler-Middleton made history as for the first time three women were voted on to the board at one time.
