Harrison Central track and field athlete ties Mississippi long jump record

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Harrison Central’s Zahkarri McGlothin is having a standout track and field season.

McGlothin tied the all-time Mississippi state record in the long jump on Thursday afternoon, with a leap of 25 feet and 10 inches.

With those numbers, he’s now ranked as the top jumper in the entire nation.

As a whole, the Red Rebels boast some of the top jumpers in the state, including top girls long jumper Maya Hardy.

Harrison Central still has plenty of season left to continue to improve ahead of district and state meets.
