Harrison Central pitcher taken by New York Mets in 31st round

Harrison Central star pitcher Brendan Hardy will have to think about what to do next after being drafted by the New York Mets late this afternoon.

The right-hander was taken in the 31st round as the 920th overall pick after a stellar season with the Red Rebels. Hardy posted a 6-1 record with a 1.51 ERA with 69 strikeouts across 51 innings.

He also has a decision to make with future plans to attend Jones County Junior College.

Joining Hardy as a day three selection is former D’Iberville standout Dylan Hardy who just finished his junior season at South Alabama. The outfielder was drafted by the New York Mets in the 13th round as the 400th overall pick.

Overall, 37 players from high school and college were selected in this year’s draft that have ties to Mississippi.
