Harrah’s Gulf Coast Casino and Resort employee gets the surprise of a lifetime
When at Harrah’s casino there is always money that can be won and unfortunately money that can be lost. On Thursday, for one employee, it was all about winning – winning more than just money.
Jewel Coleman is a 27-year employee at Harrah’s Casino and Resort and also a lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan. On Thursday he was hit with the surprise of a lifetime.
“Anybody in the casino, they will tell you, I am a die hard 49er,” said Coleman. “I am just all out of words. I am just shocked.”
Coleman was selected among 50,000 other employees throughout the country. After being handed his tickets to the Super Bowl Coleman reflected on his 27-years with, in his words, the best company in the world.
“I started off in Grand Casino Gulfport when it was in Gulfport,” he said. “When Catrina hit I was out of work for almost a year and then we came over here. I t has been the best 27 years, you know, that I have had.”
The NFL wasn’t just looking for any other fan. There is more to Coleman than just his fandom for the 49ers. He is a pillar in his community. Coleman is the president of the Top 10 Social Club that helps send underprivileged children to college.
“We do a lot of fundraisers,” he mentioned. “We give a scholarship to a senior in high school.”
