Harbor Lights Winter Festival at Jones Park
The Gulf Coast may not be dashing through the snow during the holiday season but Gulfport is putting over one million dollars into a winter festival that will make you feel like you’re in the North Pole.
The 36 day event will kick off after Thanksgiving and the city has already started preparing at Jones Park. Christmas trees and archways are already set up throughout the park and officials say this is going to bring a great holiday feel for all. Gulfport Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Henderson said, “We have to make our own Christmas spirit, so to speak, because we don’t have the snow but this is going to be a huge change from the way we’ve done Christmas in Gulfport. The entire Jones Park will be lit from end to end and it’s going to be a spectacular event.”
The festival will also include carriage rides, a train taking viewers around the park and hot chocolate vendors.
