Hanshaw Bridge closure in Ocean Springs causing traffic concerns for middle school

Over in Jackson County, the indefinite closure of Hanshaw Bridge has created some major traffic issues for Ocean Springs Middle School parents.

Over the weekend, the school district sent out a flyer preparing parents for longer drop off and pick up times.

This was caused by the immediate closure of Hanshaw Bridge located at Davis Bayou.

Ocean Springs School District says they were made aware of the closure during Mardi Gras break and were not given a reason as to why.

Ocean Springs School District Director of Communications Trey Brennan is asking parents to be patient as they work around the detour.

The Ocean Springs School District is asking parents to leave earlier than usual when dropping off and picking up as the traffic issues are expected to persist.
