Handmade Blankets Donated To Veterans

One woman is warming the hearts of local veterans by donating handmade blankets to the VA in Biloxi.

Lillian Thornton tells News 25 this is her way to give back to the veterans who fought and served for our country.
Thornton’s husband is a world war two veterans and she also has a daughter who is buried at the Biloxi national cemetery.
The 83 year old’s strong ties to the military community here on the gulf coast drives her passion to help and give as much as she can.

“We don’t know if they have family or have anyone caring for them and what if this is the only thing they’re receiving to show them that someone cares about them. I’m sure it means the world to them.”

Thornton has donated about 1500 blankets to veterans here on the coast over the past six years.
