Handicap placards on hold while Harrison County waits on state
Mississippi is replacing all handicap display placards this year and the old ones expire at the end of this month, but some Harrison County residents are still waiting to get their new cards.
A viewer contacted WXXV saying they had been to the Harrison County Tax Collector’s Office several times to get a new handicap placard, but was told they had run out. We checked with Sharon Nash Barnett’s office today and were told the cards were sent to two shipments.
The first batch went quickly and the second shipment arrived this week, but the Department of Revenue has not yet added those cards to inventory so Harrison County can’t issue them.
Barnett’s office has been told that the issue should be resolved by the end of the week.
In the meantime, anyone needing those cards can call to check on the status or stop by the ADA station for help.
We will let you know when the tax collector’s office can issue those handicap placards.
