Hancock Whitney Bank honors late George Schloegel with statue
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Hancock Whitney Bank is honoring the late George Schloegel with a life-size bronze sculpture at its downtown Gulfport headquarters.
Schloegel began his 50-year banking career as a mailroom employee before rising to chairman and CEO.
He also served as Gulfport mayor and helped lead recovery efforts following Hurricane Katrina.
Schloegel died in 2023.
Hancock Whitney leaders say the sculpture now serves as a permanent tribute to his legacy of leadership and community service.
