Hancock Middle School Reopens

It was back to the books for students and teachers at Hancock Middle School today.
Classes reassembled this morning after a small fire and flooding closed the school for several days. Teachers spent most of Tuesday evening making sure their classrooms were suitable for students to learn in.
The small fire started in yearbook teacher Kristi Lindsey’s room. She tells News 25 although she and her students are unable to return to their original classroom, she’s happy that everyone is safe and in good spirits. “I’m just really proud of the kids. They are just moving forward like pros. We will hopefully meet our deadline and the yearbooks will be ready to go in May. Again, things can be replaced.”
School officials are unsure if the students will have to make up those two days later on in the school year or not.
