Hancock High celebrates first day of school with a pep rally

Students are headed back to the classroom across the coast.

News 25 took a trip to Hancock High earlier for their first day of school.

Students and faculty hosted a pep rally to get everyone in the right mindset for the upcoming year.

Senior Student Body President Lila Turner shared what the pep rally is really about.

“Make people excited coming to school because a lot of people don’t like coming to school,” said Turner. “If you make it exciting, they want to come. Our attendance is up, that’s good for our school and good for us.”

“I’ve been teaching 18 years here and this is by far the most exciting opening we’ve had in a very, very long time,” said Amanda Pidgeon, a teacher at Hancock High. “There’s a lot of changes but they’re the type of changes you get excited about. Not the kind you get smothered by. I’m so excited to see Hawk Pride and grit become a priority in our community again.”

From us here at WXXV News 25, we want to wish all students a happy and productive school year!
