Hancock County Republican Committee tees up to help Hurricane Ida relief

The Hancock County Republican Committee hosted a golf tournament today at the Bridges Golf Club.

The event was held to help raise funds for victims of Hurricane Ida in Louisiana. Some of the proceeds made at the event will go to the One Coast Ida Relief organization for the cause.

The tournament was a shotgun-style event with teams of four. Cash prizes were given out to the top three teams.

The committee also hosted a gun raffle to help raise even more funds for the cause. Hancock County Republican Party Committee Chairman Jason Chiniche said, “When Hurricane Ida hit and decimated Louisiana, we wanted to pay back some of their kindness after Hurricane Katrina. So, we found this One Coast Ida Relief program and that was one thing that we adopted and wanted to be a part of. They’ve adopted the cities of Galiano and LaRose in Louisiana. So, we’re going to donate some proceeds, some of our donations to them.”

The committee is planning to host two more fundraisers as well: one in the fall and one in the spring.
