Hancock County organizations team up to expand access to Dolly Parton Imagination Library
HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A new initiative is underway in Hancock County to help more children discover the joy of reading.
The Hancock County Library System is partnering with several local organizations to get kids signed up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
For the past few months, the Hancock County Library System has been working behind the scenes to launch this special initiative for local children and families.
The program provides children with free, age-appropriate books each month, helping them build a love of reading from an early age.
The Library Foundation of Hancock County, United Way of South Mississippi, and Second Line Used Bookstore are all part of the initiative. “We’re very grateful to kickoff September as National Library Card Sign-up Month here in Hancock County by partnering with the library foundation, Second Line Used Bookstore to give out a free subscription to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. We’re kicking it off with a donation from the Coast Electric family matching dollar for dollar up to $30,000 for the month of September. We’re really excited about that.”
The Rotary Club of Bay St. Louis is also contributing toward the match, while Coast Electric has donated $5,000.
It’s a community wide effort built around one simple goal: giving every child the chance to discover the love of reading.
